Bundesliga: Bayern Munich march on with routine Freiburg victory

Bayern Munich continued their march towards the Bundesliga title with a comfortable 4-0 win at Freiburg on Sunday.

Two goals in three first-half minutes effectively settled the contest, with Thomas Muller's attempted cross hitting goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow and bouncing into the net before Corentin Tolisso's deflected long-range strike doubled Bayern's lead.

Sandro Wagner stabbed home early in the second half after the video assistant referee system was used to show Juan Bernat had not handled the ball in the build-up, while Muller completed the scoring on 68 minutes.

Bayern are 20 points ahead of Schalke at the top of the table and within sight of a sixth straight Bundesliga title.

In the day's early game, Mario Gomez scored twice in first-half stoppage time as Stuttgart came from behind to beat struggling Cologne 3-2.

Claudio Pizarro put the home side in front with his first goal for the club after just seven minutes, the 39-year-old firing home left-footed after being set up by Yuya Osako.

However, Gomez equalised with a powerful shot on the stroke of half-time and there was still time for the Germany international to grab a second, although that was largely thanks to a howler from Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn.

Andreas Beck extended Stuttgart's lead on 57 minutes and a late free-kick from Milos Jojic was little consolation for the Bundesliga's bottom side.
