After defeating Japan 3-1 in a friendly match on Friday (10), the Brazil National Team returned to the pitch on Tuesday (14) to face England. At Wembley Stadium in London, Brazil dominated play and created the main goal-scoring opportunities, but finished the match in a goalless draw against the home side. The clash was the National Team’s last engagement in the year. Check out the team’s record for the 2017 season.

THE MATCH

The Brazil National Team took control from the starting whistle and dominated play in the first half of the match. Setting out to attack, Brazil pressured England in their half, whereas the home side resorted to defending themselves. Attempting to break through their strong defence and find spaces left by the English defence, the ‘Canarinho’ team exchanged a series of quick passes and through passes. Despite dominating actions, though, Brazil failed to score and both teams went to their locker rooms at half-time empty handed.

The Brazil National Team came back playing with the same high-level intensity and made Hart work already in the first minute of the second half. After a precise pass by Neymar, Coutinho shot the ball, but the goalkeeper managed to deflect it with his legs. Brazil continued pressuring the English side and came very close to netting in the 31st minute. Fernandinho read the play perfectly, dashed along midfield and blasted a shot from outside the penalty area, which clipped the bottom of the crossbar. At the 39th minute, Neymar found Paulinho. The midfielder reached the penalty area and shot the ball at Hart’s chest. End of the match: 0-0.

BRAZIL: Alisson, Daniel Alves, Miranda, Marquinhos and Marcelo; Casemiro, Paulinho and Renato Augusto (Fernandinho); Neymar, Philippe Coutinho (Willian) and Gabriel Jesus (Firmino). Coach: Tite
