One year in and FC Cincinnati’s new stadium is taking shape

Postby admin » Fri Dec 20, 2019 11:47 pm

A year after its groundbreaking, FC Cincinnati’s future home is steadily taking shape – and remains on time, on budget and on course to be a dazzling soccer-first venue.

That’s some of the upshot from a tour of the 12.4-acre stadium construction site provided to members of the media this week, led by club president Jeff Berding.

“We’re seeing steel start to go vertical,” Berding said. “That represents what will be a historic, state-of-the-art stadium.”

FCC’s privately-financed, $250-million stadium in the city’s West End is scheduled to debut at the start of the 2021 MLS season and will feature one of the largest team stores in the league, a record number of club seats and suites and an intimate, fully-roofed-and-enclosed design.

Capacity is expected to clock in around 26,000, with safe standing in The Bailey supporters’ section and some of the most steeply-sloped stands in MLS.

"I've been traveling the world a bit, and when we show our ambition and this stadium design to people in Europe and South America, they're blown away by the ambition of our club," added Berding.
