Big game this Friday night for Babbel and the Wanderers

Postby admin » Mon Dec 16, 2019 9:40 pm

This Friday night (20 December) is a big test for the Wanderer's and particularly their coach Markus Babbel as he faces the real possibility of being dumped from his position if the result goes the way of the visiting Western United.

Babbel is a former international German football player and coach who is into his second year managing the Western Sydney Wanderers but has struggled to win his share of games and is well behind the win/loss ratio of other coaches that have led the club in the A-League.

Babbel most certainly has the background as a player to motivate and lead his team having played as a defender for clubs in Germany and England. He also won the UEFA Cup twice, in 1996 with Bayern and in 2001 with Liverpool.

If Mark Rudan's Western United team win on Friday night it will be perhaps only a matter of a few days before the Wanderers board moves to appoint a new coach.

If Western United snare an early goal on Friday expect fireworks from the coaches boxes as both Rudan and Babbel are known to fire-up when their is tension and agression on the pith.
