Mariners sack coach

Postby admin » Mon Aug 08, 2016 7:27 pm

The Central Coast Mariners have removed their coach Tony Walmsley after just over 12 months in the role with existing front-of-house staffers Matthew Nash, Brice Johnson, John Hutchinson, and Ben Cahn taking the reins pending the arrival of a new coach.

Warmsley arrived at the Central Coast Mariners early last year, initially in a role as their technical director. He then took over as coach for the Gosford club after Phil Moss relinquished the role in April last year.

The change of coach last season was a disaster and the Mariners finished in last place for the 2015-2016 A-League season and only picked-up three wins which saw them finish in the wooden spoon slot with only three wins.

The end for Walmsley came after the Central Coast Mariners lost their recent FFA Cup game against Green Gully.
